more tubes

Last night I had a dream about a chick I’ve never met before. It was one of those where everything seemed totally real but no, it was not sexual. Well not sexual in that we didn’t have sex or do anything nasty to each other but she was definitely hot and do-able. If I had it my way we would have done the nasties but even in my own dream I never get my way. Yeah, so in one part of the dream she asked for my phone number and I replied in my geeky, aloof way something like, “That is possible.” I don’t remember what happened after that but it was definitely not sexual.

So this weekend was pretty uneventful. Did some running, listened to my tube headphone amp, downloaded some porn and started fiddling around with my CD player. This CD player is 10+ years old so I won’t feel too bad if I totally blow it up. I’ve been reading on the web something about replacing the capacitors because certain types of capacitors dry up with age and are thus rendered useless. Yeah, so imagine little shriveled up raisin capacitors inside the CD player. Okay that was a joke. Shut up. Anyway, now my CD player is sitting on the coffee table with the cover off and its guts exposed. And as I try to figure out which capacitors need replacing with what I have no CD player to listen to. Let’s go buy acksee a new CD player just for the hell of it. Not going to happen.

Other projects on the go. After helping AF1 fix his toilet last weekend I’ve been thinking about upgrading mine with those new water saving fill valves. If you’ve ever looked inside the toilet tank you probably noticed the lever with the ball float at the end. The new ones get rid of all that and it’s easier to adjust the water level in the tank. I don’t need that much water to flush. I don’t take mega huge dumps that leave skid marks.

After building my tube head phone amp I'm starting to feel like a tough guy and I’m thinking that I would like to build a tube amp for my stereo system. Mapletree Audio where I bought the headphone amp kit from also sells pre-amp kits. So I’ve been bugging SG to sell me his power amp. And now I feel all bad because he’s saying I can have it, just buy him dinner but on Ebay the asking price is at least $90US which would buy a pretty darn good dinner. But hey, that’s what friends are for.

I also need to start planning a vacation. I have 3 weeks to kill before the end of this year and I don’t want to waste it sitting at home especially now that the Madre is at home. I wouldn’t mind going on another kayak camping trip like the one I went on last year but that's not cheap. Freakin great, I got 3 weeks of vacations and don't know what to do with it. That's just freakin sick.
