blahs nahs and lahs

Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004 - 5:10 p.m.

Today I heard on the news and saw on CNN.com that drivers over 65 were 25 percent more likely to get into a crash than middle-aged drivers. And drivers over 85 were 50 percent more likely to get into a crash. That was a study released by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety. I would like to take that piece of information and shove it down the throat of one Doris L. whom I had a big debate with a few years ago. We were discussing an incident where an 83-year-old woman crashed here car into a bank because she stepped on the gas instead of the brakes. I made the comment that an 83-year-old probably should not be driving since perception and motor skills decrease the older you get. DL basically said I was full of shit and that elderly drivers were among the safest on the road. Blah-blah-blah Miss Know-it-all had all the insurance statistics to prove it blah-blah-blah how can you say such a thing blah-blah-blah. Well, Miss You-drive-like-an-83-year-old-yourself, you can take that and your insurance statistics and shove it up your nah-nah.

I’ve always disliked know-it-alls, those people who always seem to have the facts whether real or made up. They are always ready with a rebuttal to whatever opinions you may have. They always have an opinion about something and always know best. I don’t bother which those people because they are living in their own freakin lah-lah-never-never land where they are king or god and to them everyone else is a turd.

Another type of person I don’t like is the poser. These are the people who do something because they think it makes them look cool or sexy or glamorous or because everyone else is doing it. They try to look the part and even try to act the part but really they don’t have a clue what they are doing. Again, they talk blah-blah-blah like they’re experts, like they’ve been doing it forever but really they are just talking out of their ass. Example, if you go out and buy a top of the line mountain bike and buy all the fancy biking accessories and go wobbling down the bike trail for 15 minutes, that does not make you some gnarly, extreme mountain biker. So don’t talk like you’ve been tear-assing through the woods on your hard tail ever since the sport was invented. Yeah the pros make it look easy because they HAVE been doing it for years. These are also the people who buy something because they think it makes them look cool or sexy or glamorous or because everyone else has one. They don’t really need it or know how to use it or appreciate it, but they have it. They have the bragging rights and love it when other people ooh and ahh at their new possession.

Oh what a wonderful world we live in with all sorts of different people. I won’t even get into the couch potatoes who plant their asses in front of the TV every night.

Dang I’ve had enough of winter. I haven’t been warm since October. Yeah I’m just a little bit cranky.
