too much of this

Monday, Nov. 17, 2003 - 11:33 p.m.

Friday night/Saturday morning finished nightshift at 3:30AM, got home at 4:00AM and straight to bed. Saturday I went downtown to meet up with AF1 and went to BayBloorRadio. I bought the Grado headphones. Okay I said I wouldn’t pay $300 for headphones, but these were almost half that price. And I always support the little guys. Grado is a small company, owned by some guy named John, took over from his uncle, started when he was 12 sweeping floors. The headphones are assembled in the basement, he lives upstairs, it’s a great story. And the headphones sound pretty darn good too. These headphones actually have some sort of cult status because they sound so good for the money. We got 2 hours free parking at the ManuLife Center. We grabbed some coffee and walked over to Banana Republic. I bought a long-sleeve T-shirt and AF1 didn’t want to hold my coffee while I paid because he didn’t want people to think we were gay. It was flamer-central that day. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

After the two hours were up we headed back towards AF1’s condo. There is a Loomis & Toles (art store) nearby so I went looking for stretched canvas. I want to put up colored squares on my wall. They only had 2; I needed six. No I don’t want to wait till next week and no I don’t want to visit your Yonge & Eglinton store despite the fact that they have 20 in stock there.

I headed back uptown and met up with SG to go see Matrix Revolutions. I didn’t understand it. That French guy’s wife is hot. The S&M party scene was hot. I think that will be my costume for next Halloween: gas mask and black trench coat. After the movie we went to some greasy-spoon burger joint. It was still early so we went to rent a movie. We ended up getting Animatrix. It was pretty good. I just hope there are no messed-up, weirdo kids committing suicide and thinking they’ll wake up and be rescued by Keanu Reeves.

Sunday the madre and the sis went out for lunch. Thanks for the invite. They probably assumed I would sleep in because I’m in nightshift mode. I went to Michael’s (another art store) but their canvases were crap. Then I headed down to IKEA to buy some boxes to organize all my crap because it seems like I have scraps of paper lying around everywhere. IKEA was the usual zoo, it being Sunday and two hours till closing. And they didn’t have the color of boxes that I wanted. I went home 0 for 0.

Last night I knew I wouldn’t be able to fall asleep before 3:00AM so I started watching Momento at about 11:30PM. I didn’t understand that movie either. I did realize that the moving was going backwards in time, but I still didn’t understand it. I get a kick watching those adult chat-line info-mercials where chicks in bikinis are rolling around on the beach. I bet there are tonnes of guys calling those lines thinking they are ACTUALLY talking to those same chicks on the screen, or chicks as hot as the ones on screen. Oh but I suppose ignorance is bliss.

I woke up at 10:30AM this morning and went to the IKEA site to check if they had the color of boxes in stock. According to the site they did but you know and I know how accurate online information is. But first I went to Curry’s (yet another art store) and finally found 6 good quality 12”x 12” stretched canvases. They were on sale for 50% too. Then I went back to IKEA but they still didn’t have the color I wanted. I said screw it and just bought the plain white ones. I went to Food Basics to buy some veggies and humus before heading home for a late lunch. And now here I am back at nightshift.
