windy ass dayWednesday, Oct. 15, 2003 - 3:43 p.m.It’s freakin windy outside. Winds gusting to 90 km/h. I was stopped at a particularly windy intersection and my car was shaking. I saw the car in front rocking side to side. If I were walking down the street I would probably get my skinny, 110lb ass blown over. At least it’s sunny out and the fall colors are amazing. Some of my fall color photos actually came out half-decent. Today would be a great day to go to the beach and check out the waves whipped up by these strong-ass winds and more of the fall colors. But my ass is stuck at work and it gets dark before I get my ass home. I went running last week, forgot which day. All the running from the summer did some good after all because I was still able to do my 6K after sitting on my ass for 2 weeks. The cooler weather and coming home from work after dark does not help things. I did some killer crunches and squats on holiday Monday so my abs and legs are a bit sore. I love that stiff, achy feeling after a good work out. Friday the digital answering machine on my 3-month new cordless phone died. I was happy with the V-Tech phone so I took it back to the store Saturday morning hoping they could just exchange a new one. Unfortunately, the cute chick with the red streaks in her hair said they didn’t have any more of the V-Techs in stock so she gave me the choice of a refund or exchange. I picked a Uniden, which had similar features but took it back yesterday because my picky ass didn’t like it. It didn’t look right, didn’t feel right, didn’t sound right. It just wasn't right. Luckily the store has a 7-day exchange policy for us picky folk. And the cute chick with the red streaks was working again but she was busy doing other stuff. Instead some other fast-talking dude helped me out. I ended up choosing a Panasonic and only paid an extra $20 even though it was worth $40 more than the original V-Tech. Of course I didn’t leave without saying good bye to the cute chick with the read streaks but I hope I don’t have to go back again. I think she was kinda young. Saturday morning I woke up early to go get new front tires (before exchanging the phone). I checked the Saturday paper to see if there were any tire sales but ended going to the place where the sis got her tires. $253 later I had a new pair of Michelin HydroEdge. The car definitely felt more responsive in terms of road handling and the cornering felt more solid. I was driving in a big-ass rainstorm last night and the tires are great in the wet. I went through big puddles without hydroplaning and didn’t spin the tires during hard acceleration. I should be rockin when the first big snow dump comes. But then what do I know, I drive like a freakin old man. The bro came back for the long weekend, driving his new Honda Element, and we had our Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday. We didn’t have turkey but I, repeat I, cooked a roast pork loin rib end rack and roast potatoes. The sis made stuffing and all the other side dishes. The roast came out perfect and juicy, maybe needed a bit more salt in the rub, that’s what the gravy is for. The good thing was we polished off everything so there were almost no leftovers. The bad thing was there were almost no leftovers. No turkey and gravy sandwiches for lunch. Saturday I met up with the bro, bro's GF, the sis and the madre at Pacific Mall (after exchanging the phone). I used to like going to Pacific to check out all the cutesy FOB chicks but I don’t find them all that attractive anymore. Maybe they’re too cutesy or too fobby or too much into their Chinese-mall-FOB-thing. I prefer a more Westernized chick, someone more down to earth, more nature and outdoor loving, more in tune with her inner self rather than her outer image. And the hypocrisy of it all is I still want her to be one hot little cutie. Yes, I have pretty high standards even though I don’t rank highly on the standards list. It’s not my fault, it’s in the stars. From my astrological natal self analysis:
Sunday I had lunch with the family and then met up with SG to go shoot some pictures. We ended up at Sunnybrook Park and shot more fall color pics, drove around downtown and then had Japanese for dinner. We were supposed to go catch Kill Bill but of course missed the movie again. Yeah next time we need to find out WHEN and WHERE the movie actually plays. Instead we went to another friend’s new condo which he was just moving into. I ended up helping him put together an IKEA bed while SG took a nap on the new leather IKEA couch. It seems like everyone and his brother is buying a condo these days. But then chicks like guys with their own place. The pressure is on.
