one yearMonday, Aug. 25, 2003 - 5:47 p.m.Wow, so lexxee.diaryland.com is one year old today. 184 entries and 2000 page views later hopefully I’m a little bit wiser and a little bit better at writing these things. I feel a little bit older but I’ve grown up a little bit too. I’d like to think that I’m a little bit fitter and eating healthier. I’d like to think I’ve becom a better programmer, a better photographer, and a better person in general. I’m also a little bit more serious, a little bit more boring, a little bit bitterer, a little bit more cynical, and a little bit grumpier, which is not a good thing. There were more good times than bad times, but mostly just time spent working and doing nothing. I’ve read many excellent entries by many interesting people and had a few interesting exchanges. There was no new car, no GF, and one setup. There were zombie movies and photography field trips. There were too many events to mention; like the space shuttle disaster, snowshoe adventure, war in Iraq, SARS, mad cow disease, kayak trip, major blackout (crap, didn’t I just say there were too many events to mention?) Maybe memory is going a bit too. Maybe time for a new look and feel. The old-piece-of-crap clock radio finally died on the weekend. Saturday I was cleaning my room and unplugged the clock radio. After plugging it back in, it was flashing 12:00 so I had to reset the time. Normally I would hold down the time button and then press hour or minute. This time nothing happened. No matter how hard I pressed, the time was still stuck at 12:00. Those freakin buttons were not use-friendly nice flat buttons but little tic-tac shaped buttons that dug into your fingertips if you pressed down hard for a long time. After a few curses and banging and smacking it was 12:02. In the garbage it went and time for a new clock radio. Sunday I went to the mall and checked out The Sony Store, Radio Shack and Best Buy. There was a nice one at Sony Store that I liked; dual radio/buzzer alarm, digital AM FM radio, battery backup but the price was $90. I settled for an RCA one with the same features from Best Buy at $45. It’s not a Sony but then it’s also $45 cheaper. They both probably have the same guts and were made in China by some child or prison labor factory. Saturday was a cleanup day of sorts. The hot air balloon ride for Saturday morning was cancelled again due to winds. Since they were calling for winds, I decided to wake up early and go shoot some waves at the beach in the morning light. The clock radio went off (it was still working Saturday morning) at 7:00AM and I looked out the window. The morning light was nice but there was no wind, which meant no waves. I went back to sleep but for some reason woke up at around 10:00AM. I had my morning cup of tea and some carrot sticks with peanut butter (still trying to eat the 50% raw veggies for the cleansing thing). Then I was flipping through the Saturday paper and surfing a bit and, I don’t know what came over me, but I decided to clean the bathroom. I pulled out the yellow, rubber gloves and the CLR and the scrubbing pad and went to work on the sink. The secret to using CLR is to wait a while and let the chemicals do their work. After the sink, I got kinda bored so I went back downstairs and puttered around a bit and had lunch. Come afternoon and I was bored again so I decided to go back and started on the bathtub. I did half the tub, the showerhead end, and called it quits again. It wasn’t until 10:00PM when I went back and finished the rest of the tub. More raw veggies for lunch today and I’m hoping I don’t lose anymore weight or else I’m going to disappear. Hopefully more protein and working out will at least build more muscle. It’s pretty windy today so I might go shoot some waves in some evening light.
